Habibollahzadeh made the remarks in an exclusive interview with IRNA published on Sunday prior to his departure for Ankara.
Noting that Turkiye is Iran’s third largest trade partner, the ambassador said that he will do his utmost to further expand bilateral relations in different fields.
He also said he has plans to activate an intergovernmental economic commission between Iran and Turkiye after nearly two years.
The ambassador touched upon economic and political exchanges between Iran and Turkiye, adding that a visit to Ankara by President Ebrahim Raisi is on the agenda in response to a visit in August last year to Iran by his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Habibollahzadeh has previously served as an aide to the Iranian foreign minister and in top roles including directorship of Iranian Foreign Ministry’s department for Mediterranean and East European Affairs and directorship of Foreign Ministry’s department for media diplomacy affairs. He has also served as Iranian ambassador to Norway and as charge d’affaires to the UK.
